EN16 Round Bar (605M36)
EN16 also known as 605M36 comes as rolled (no heat treatment) or hardened and tempered to the 'T' condition. EN16T is high tensile steel with good mechanical properties and has freedom from temper brittleness ideal for bolts, nuts, shafts and axles. EN16 is a low alloy, high tensile steel with good mechanical properties.
EN16 shares the same good mechanical properties of EN8 but is more resistant to shear loading and frictional wearing. It is an alternative alloy steel grade to other chromium and nickel high tensile steel specifications and is readily machinable in the supplied condition. EN16 is a popular 'all-rounder' and is used in a wide variety of general engineering applications.
605M36 grade steel is a manganese-molybdenum through hardening steel used for parts requiring a tensile strength around 770 N/mm² in medium sections but capable of achieving up to 930 N/mm² in smaller sections.
This material has good resistance to shock and excellent ductility. Freedom from temper embrittlement is attainable with this grade.
605M36 steel is still often referred to as EN16 steel - its equivalent grade under the previous BS 970: 1955 standard.

Key Features:
EN16 Engineering Steel is more resistant to shear loading and frictional wearing than EN8. With good mechanical properties this high tensile steel has good shock resistance.
